I recently bought one of Revlon’s newest foundations, New Complexion Oil Control Make Up in #02 Buff. Being a ‘young woman’ with combination skin (oily t-zone and normal everywhere else) I’m often quite self-conscious of my skin and paranoid about oil build up. After reading an advertisement for the New Complexion Oil Control foundation in a magazine I picked one up, not expecting much but hoping for the best.

 Overall, I really like this foundation. It doesn’t completely clear my skin of an oily t-zone but I’ve found I’m far less aware of it and only needing to blot (with powder) once throughout the day.

In a lot of way this foundation reminds me of another Revlon foundation, Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation for combination/oily skin. Much like with the Colorstay, I’m matched to the shade Buff (#02 in New Complexion and #150 in Colorstay) for the New Complexion Oil Control foundation. Unlike the Colorstay foundation, however, this liquid foundation only has five shades available.

I really like the coverage of this foundation. The formula is runnier than Colorstay, making it a little easier to apply and pour from the irritating bottle (c’mon Revlon, give us a pump already!). Depending on the application of the product, the coverage can be sheer or full. The runny formula makes application and bendability very easy.

I love the fact that this foundation dries to a matte finish. It’s the first time that I haven’t felt the need to set my foundation with a powder. Although I don’t feel the need to set it, I still make sure that I powder the t-zone at the least.

This foundation works well for me. In conjunction with my favourite primer (expect a review very soon) this foundation addresses one of my biggest skin concerns, an oily t-zone.  The finish is a lot more natural than that of the Revlon Colorstay foundation and a lot more appropriate for everyday living, especially given that it has a sun protection factor of 20 (SPF 20).

Would I recommend this foundation? I would definitely recommend this foundation to people with combination/oily skin, providing that their skin tone is within the minimal colour range.
