Urban Decay Naked Basics Review and Swatches

I've had the Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette in my make up collection for quite some time now and, for some reason, I was never really sold on it. I thought it was a nice palette, yes, but I didn't see what the fuss was. That is, of course, until last week when something clicked and I fell head over heels for this perfect little palette.

Venus | Foxy | W.O.S. (Walk of Shame) | Naked 2 | Faint | Crave

If you haven't heard of the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette before, it's a palette consisting of six eyeshadows. Five of the eyeshadows in the palette have a matte finish and the sixth is a satin finish. I'm terrible at explaining eyeshadow colours so I'm going to leave that to the expert, Temptalia -

Venus (creamy eyeshadow with white shimmer), Foxy (matte yellow beige), W.O.S (matte pink beige), Naked 2 (matte soft taupe brown with a touch of grey), Faint (matte medium dark brown with a hint of warmth) and Crave (matte black brown).

As you can see from the swatches above, these eyeshadows have great pigmentation. The only one you can't see in the photo above is Foxy and that's because the colour is soo similar to that of my skin. For matte shades, they're all very smooth and blendable, something I totally didn't expect. I often find matte eyeshadows to be quite chalky and difficult to work with.

In terms of versatility, I think the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is great. I've been using this palette a lot in the past week to great some subtle (and no so subtle) smokey looks for the daytime and nighttime. Not only do these eyeshadows work great with each other, they're also fantastic in combination with other eyeshadows. I have so many matte crease colours in my collection but I've been reaching for Naked 2 for three weeks straight and I can't get enough. It's the perfect crease/transition colour and I wish every palette had this colour!

I am really impressed with the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I never really delved into the world of matte eyeshadows before, purely because I'm a girl that loves me some shimmer, though I've come to really love the effect over the past few weeks. I highly recommend this bad boy to everyone, especially those who like to have compact and easy make up!

You can get the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette for $27.00US from Sephora or $40.80AUD from Beauty Bay.
