Gwen Stefani for OPI Collection* Review and Swatches

I was recently given the opportunity to trial a few products from the new Gwen Stefani for OPI* collection, a collection that includes seven new nail polish shades in a range of innovative finishes. This extremely diverse and, let's say it, beautiful collection pays tribute to her roles in both the fashion and music industry.

From No Doubt to Hollaback Girl, I've always been quite a fan of Gwen Stefani's music so, I'll be honest, when In True Stefani Fashion* and Push and Shove* arrived at my door, I was pretty damned excited.

For reviews and swatches of the colours, keep reading!

Push and Shove* | In True Stefani Fasion* | In True Stefani Fashion* over Essie Neo Whimsical

As I said, I've been putting two of the shades to the test, In True Stefani Fashion* and Push and Shove*. In True Stefani* is a holographic silver glitter polish. The glitter is in a variety of sizes and this has looked lovely over each colour I've tried it with. Push and Shove* is a silver chrome polish that's seriously reflective, as you can see from the swatches below.

My only gripe with the polishes I've tried is with Push and Shove*. As you can see from the information on the back, this nail polish is intended for one day wear. They suggest that you use OPI's Lay Down that Base (included with the polish) underneath but don't wear a base coat. Why?! To put the nail polish to the ultimate test, I did one hand with a top coat and one without. I stupidly deleted the comparison photos from my phone so you'll have to believe me when I say this but do it, use a top coat. The hand with the top coat wore for almost a week, whereas the nail polish on the hand without a top coat wore off (yes, wore and rubbed off) after only a day or so. The top coat I used did not affect the chrome finish in the slightest, it just prolonged the wear.

If you're interested in checking out some of the shades in the Gwen Stefani by OPI Collection, I just wanted to let you know that the signature shade, Over and Over A-Gwen, is only available in a boxed set that includes the polish, Swarovski black and silver crystals, gold and pewter studs in a bar, square, diamond and circle shapes for creating unique nail designs plus nail glue.

All shades from the Gwen Stefani by OPI Collection have been available in store from Myer, David Jones stores and selected salons since February 2014. Prices are as follows.
